Work Starts On-site at Clean Coal Project

Mitsui Acquires Interests in South Australian Uranium Projects

Mitsui has announced that it will acquire interests in six uranium deposits held by Uranium One Inc, including the Honeymoon Project in South Australia. Mitsui has signed a sale and purchase agreement and a joint venture agreement for the joint development of these projects.

Oxy Fuel Media Release
March 31, 2008

Agreement has been reached between Australian and Japanese partners for the construction of what will be Australia's first demonstration power station using clean coal technology to produce low emission electricity. Construction of the $206 million Callide Oxyfuel project at Biloela in Central Queensland will begin early next year with the 30 megawatt power station scheduled to start producing electricity by the end of 2010.

Mitsui to Expand Capacity at Western Australian Iron Ore Ventures with BHP Billiton

Mitsui & Co., Ltd. announced today that it will spend approximately A$190 million (17 billion yen) through its Australian subsidiaries to increase the capacity of iron ore operations in Western Australia, jointly operated with BHP Billiton and Itochu Corporation, to 155 million tons per annum (Mtpa).

Anglo & Mitsui reach agreement to purchase Collingwood & Ownaview deposits
February 19, 2007

Anglo Coal Australia Pty Ltd and Mitsui Coal Holdings have executed an agreement to purchase the Collingwood and Ownaview exploration deposits located in the Surat Basin, Queensland. The deposits are to be purchased from Sennen Resources Ltd, a listed Canadian resource company. Anglo Coal Australia will hold a 51% interest & Mitsui 49%.

Mitsui to spend US$284m for Robe River J/V port expansion in WA

Mitsui announced today that it will spend US$284 million through its 100% subsidiary Mitsui Iron Ore Development to further expand the Robe River J/V``s iron ore export capacity at Cape Lambert in the Pilbara region of WA from nameplate capacity of 55 to 80 million tonnes per annum.

First Shipment of Green Triangle Plantation Woodchips
April 4, 2006.

Mitsui & Co. (Australia) Ltd. and its joint venture partner Nippon Paper Treefarm Australia Pty Ltd., a subsidiary company of Nippon Paper Industries Co. Ltd. will begin loading the first shipment of Green Triangle Blue Gum plantation woodchips today.

This first shipment from the Green Triangle region, some 21,000 tonnes of Blue Gum woodchips, is destined for Nippon Paperfs Iwakuni Mill in western Japan, and is the first of five such shipments planned for 2006.

Anglo Coal and Mitsui expand Australian Coal Operation
December 15, 2004

Anglo American plc (Anglo American) and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Mitsui) today announced that Anglo Coal Australia and Mitsui Coal Holdings intend to recapitalise their existing operations at the Moura open cut coal mine in Central Queensland, Australia and to establish two additional operations on adjacent tenures. The new and expanded operations will be known as the Dawson Complex. The Dawson Complex is held through a joint venture, comprising Anglo Coal Australia (51%) and Mitsui Coal Holdings (49%). Production will increase from 7.0 Mtpa to 12.7 Mtpa of saleable coal for the export market to meet the strong global demand for high quality metallurgical and thermal coals.

Mitsui completes acquisition of 10 power plants from Edison Mission Energy
December 17, 2004.

Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Mitsui) announces that in partnership with International Power plc (a large U.K. electric utility company), it completed the acquisition of 10 power plants from Edison Mission Energy (USA). The final total acquisition price was approximately US$2.0 billion (JPY210billion). The acquired assets comprise a portfolio of international power generation assets in 6 countries around the world namely in Europe, Australia, Asia and Puerto Rico. Mitsui regards participation into power generation business as one of its core business areas in its Mid-term Business Plan "Global Growth 2006".

First Shipment of Green Triangle Bluegum Plantation Woodchips
